Perplexity Personal Computer (local access)
Perplexity
As of 9 Oct 2026, PAEval has compiled 18 capability records for Perplexity Personal Computer (local access) from 16 source URLs; 17 come from the vendor's own documentation and none has yet been independently observed. No independent product-level score has been published for it yet. Scores from different evaluators use different scales and are not combined. PAEval does not publish its own score or rank for it.
Personal Computer adds native file, application and browser access to Computer capabilities. Its default hybrid execution does not equal full local inference; Portable Computer is a local execution variant that needs to be noted separately.
No independent product-level score has been published for this product yet. Capability evidence below is documentation and observations only.

Capability summary
Strongest status per domain; every underlying record is listed below. Availability does not establish task success.
Positioning & scope
Personal Computer adds native file, application and browser access to Computer capabilities. Its default hybrid execution does not equal full local inference; Portable Computer is a local execution variant that needs to be noted separately.
Regions, eligibility & access
The current help column is for Pro/Max, macOS15+, Windows10 version 1809+, and Windows11; specific native application controls are still limited to Mac. The complete region and language list was not found.
Pricing & quotas
Inherit the personal Pro/Max subscription and cloud computer usage system; cloud points will not be deducted for work completed by the local model, and charges will be charged for the steps to the cloud. Mac mini is an optional always-on device, and the hardware cost is additional.
Autonomy & background work
The Computer backend and automation are still used; tasks related to local resources rely on the availability of connected devices. Portable provides local scheduling and persistent queues.
Limitations: The complete retry semantics of automatic wake-up from device sleep and offline backlog tasks have not been verified.
Execution environments
Authorized folders can be searched, read, created, and modified; Mac can operate native applications such as Mail, Finder, Messages, Notes, and logged-in Comet. The help page for Windows Installer Application Control is still marked as not supported.
Remote tasks inherit the resources and permissions of the selected device; changes to local authorization need to be processed on that device. The cloud computer itself is still a cloud sandbox, and the remote mobile phone entrance cannot be recorded as the mobile phone's native OS control.
Mac Hybrid requires Apple Silicon and at least 24GB of unified memory; Windows Portable lists AMD Ryzen AI Max or NVIDIA with at least 24GB of GPU memory, and Linux requires the Ubuntu/NVIDIA route.
Limitations: The hardware threshold is not the minimum threshold for the default Personal Computer.; The Portable page is older and only lists NVIDIA, which is not completely consistent with the overview of the new AMD list.
Portable puts the model, planning/scheduling/queue/index and sandbox locally, and can do offline local tasks; one local model at a time, and cloud steps require permission. Its Brain and saved memory are not yet available.
Limitations: It is only recorded as a configuration variant and is not combined into a measurement score with the default Personal/Cloud Computer.
Calls, messages & identity
Mac native applications and user connection accounts can be used for communication; in addition, the Computer mail service entrance is inherited. No general commitment was found for personal agents to obtain independent phone/any new email identities.
Connectors & tools
Inherits Computer third-party connector/API, and can also write files locally. The Portable local stdio MCP runs with user rights outside its sandbox; these tool rights cannot be treated as cloud computer support.
Memory & personalization
Cloud/hybrid mode can continue to use Computer memory; Brain research preview is subject to Max qualification. Portable is purely local and has no Brain/saved memory, so different configurations need to be specified.
Channels & interfaces
Mac/Windows have floating toolbars and voice; mobile phones, the web, and another computer can choose the connected device to start/continue/view local tasks.
Research & deliverables
Cloud research can be combined with local Office/file processing, browsers and code; the Windows page promotes Office files, 400+ connectors and Comet controls, but actual platform functionality needs to be verified with detailed documentation.
Transactions & bookings
Native browser/app and calendar tools to assist with steps; comprehensive support list for personal merchant payments, reservations, and irreversible actions not verified.
Collaboration & parallelism
The remote entrance can specify one from multiple connected devices; the maximum number of concurrent user-level multitasks and the permission model for multiple people sharing local agents are not clear.
Reliability & recovery
The official recommendation is to first go to the web to determine whether only the desktop UI is stuck, and then restart the app; if it is really stuck, you can stop it, check permissions, check that modifications have been made, and then try again. If the file is not produced, the target location and task status should be checked.
Limitations: Resending the task may repeat the operation, and the official requirement is to check the partial completion results first; it is not an automatic rollback of the transaction.
Permissions, security & data
Continuous access must be canceled by removing the folder in settings. Simply canceling this selection is not enough. Local deletions may be permanently deleted without going through the Recycle Bin; permission will be required for first-time Comet access and sensitive actions.
Mac hybrid mode has privacy gates that can cover/keep local/deny or require consent before uploading to the cloud; running the native MCP outside the sandbox is an additional risk. Personal cloud data controls are the same as personal subscription policies.
External measurements & hands-on results
Different methods, samples and dates. Not combined into one success rate.
External record ↗
- Evidence type
- Reported and released by independent media; not actual measurement
- Limitations
- Expressions such as kill switch/audit in reports cannot be regarded as verification by reporters.
External record ↗
- Evidence type
- Independent review; explicitly untried
- Limitations
- Not evidence of product performance; The Max-only access description at the time was superseded by the current Pro rollout
Analyst notes
Key differences
- Personal Computer's local files and Mac application execution cannot be recorded to the pure cloud computer.
- It is also necessary to subdivide the Mac default hybrid, Mac local model and Windows/Linux Portable. The memory threshold, memory, MCP and cloud calls are different.
- Windows portal and native installation application automation are not the same thing.
Known unknowns
- Complete country and language matrix
- Windows native apps control update status
- Sleep wake-up and device offline task recovery mechanism
- Multiple people share local proxy permissions
- Independently reproducible Personal Computer success rate/cost/latency test
Source conflicts and how they were resolved
- topic: Windows application control; sources: p_windows; p_apps; resolution: The product page promotes Control Comet/Office; the detailed document on September 3 says installed-app control Mac-only. Browsers and installed applications are marked separately and are not generalized.
- topic: Portable hardware; sources: p_personal; p_portable; resolution: The current overview lists AMD and NVIDIA; the Portable detail page only lists NVIDIA. Version differences are retained, and purchasers should check actual installation compatibility.
